Frequently Asked Questions
Is RAM a general contractor?
RAM is not a general contractor – we don’t typically manage subs or perform all the tasks that a GC would normally do. We are a specialty contractor, we self-perform about 98% of our own work and act as a subcontractor when working along general contractors!
Is RAM a residential contractor?
No, RAM does not perform residential repairs – commercial buildings and structures only!
Is RAM seasonal?
Great question! Many of our projects only set-up when temperatures are at 40° Fahrenheit and rising, so we use that as a “rule of thumb” for our standard procedures. However, we have definitely performed other work in the dead-winter months. We try to keep our skilled tradesmen (and women) busy by finding interior work for the winter.
Will RAM travel?
Yes, we are seven offices strong and here to serve you! Our New Construction, Building Façade Restoration, and Concrete Restoration groups travel across the Midwest and even further South. Our Department of Transportation travels all the time – we worked in 25 states in 2018.
It seems like you only handle large projects – is that true?
Nope! We’re ready and willing to perform repairs anywhere from $800.00 to $8M. Check out the smaller repairs and maintenance projects that we’ve tackled here: Maintenance & Repairs projects. Have you identified a window leak? A handful of broken brick? Would you like an inspection and maintenance plan for your building or parking deck? Give us a call!
Why is RAM always capitalized?
RAM is an acronym for Robert A. Mazur, who purchased the Detroit division of the Western Waterproofing franchise in 1973, before his untimely passing in 1977. His wife, Evelyn, worked extremely hard to keep the business running until their son, Robert T. Mazur, became the president in 1981 (upon graduating from WMU). He made the decision to rebrand the company as RAM Construction Services in 2008 to honor his father.
