DMC Chiller Slab Replacement
Location: Detroit, MI
Project Type: Concrete Restoration
About this Project
RAM Construction was contracted by the Detroit Medical Center to address a busy pavilion walkway that had large areas of broken concrete due to a burst chiller line below the surface. The damage rendered the walkway unusable. RAM moved on the job immediately, helping the local team determine a schedule to not only restore the concrete of the pavilion, but also to coordinate our work around the repairing of the line. After excavating down 12’ to expose the chiller line, the subgrade material was refilled with proper compaction before a fresh concrete slab was poured. A star pattern was cut into the concrete to match the existing condition prior to the repair.

"I just wanted to let you know what a pleasure it was to work with Rey and the guys on the bridge project. Rey was top notch all the way on this project with his communication and execution, which made my job so much easier knowing that things were going to get done right and on schedule. I know the school is very happy with the results as well! Thanks again for everything, and looking forward to more projects together."

"Working in the construction business you all know that the variable that truly makes or breaks a project is the team of people that is charged with working together to effectuate the plan and complete the mission at hand. Lansing’s $15 million plus “Extreme Makeover” project, completed over the past 4 years, has had the blessings and curses of working through COVID, staffing issues, material logistical challenges, etc. I wanted to take a moment to thank the leaders and the entire RAM team for making my very last project with the city extremely memorable and rewarding. They [the RAM team] were at all times respectful, helpful, collaborative, responsive and willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. I cant think of a better crew that could have made my last official project any better. Thank you for assembling, mentoring and promoting a set of individuals that could not represent your company better."

"First, I would like to give my gratitude and appreciation to RAM’s crews. RAM personnel arrived on site everyday ready to work, no matter the hours worked the day before. RAM showed a commitment to safety and quality that is among the best I have ever been around. Daily, RAM’s crews would have safety briefings and have their plans for the day reviewed. RAM’s ability to plan and communicate with my team was a huge component of the success that our project had...RAM’s crews represented the company in the highest possible capacity. Their performance on this project is the best I have experienced as a prime contractor."
- Joshua C, Project Superintendent
"Since RAM first arrived to the project site in March of 2019, [your team] has been extremely professional and considerate of the needs of the City, including all levels of the staff, the engineers and inspectors. RAM is clearly committed to schedule and quality workmanship, and maintains a crew that demonstrates these expectations as well."

"This project was yet another example of RAM performing at a level which exceeds the requirements for a parking structure maintenance project such as this and, in many ways, at a level above most of their competitors. Keep up the high quality work!"
