History

1915

The Beginning

RAM Construction Services began in St. Louis, Missouri, under the name Western Waterproofing, founded by Ben Many and George Bishop Sr. Their vision laid the groundwork for a company focused on waterproofing and restoration.

1918

Detroit Division Opens

The Detroit, Michigan, division of Western Waterproofing was established, marking the company’s first major expansion and its introduction to the Midwest market. There were 17 people in the entire firm; including office, field and warehouse combined.

1973

Robert A. Mazur Joins

At 43 years old, Robert A. Mazur purchased 50% of the Detroit Division of Western Waterproofing from John Bagbey, one of the active owner brothers. His leadership marked a turning point in the division’s growth.

1977

Evelyn Takes the Lead

Following Robert’s passing, his wife, Evelyn Mazur stepped in to lead the Detroit Division. Her dedication and determination ensured the company’s stability and continued success during a challenging time.

1980

Bob Mazur Joins Full-Time

Robert and Evelyn’s eldest son, Robert ‘Bob’ T. Mazur, joined the company full-time after finishing college. Bringing fresh ideas and energy, Bob began to shape the future of the family business.

1981

Full Ownership Achieved

Bob Mazur negotiated the purchase of the remaining 50% of the Detroit Division stock from Walker Bagbey, securing full ownership and ushering in a new era of growth for the company. 

1991

Expansion to Livonia

RAM purchased land in Livonia, Michigan, designed and constructed a facility. This marked a significant step in strengthening its operations and setting the stage for further expansion.

1993

Cleveland Office Opens

RAM expanded into Cleveland, Ohio, after successfully bidding on multiple large projects in the region. The new office became a hub for projects in Cleveland, Pennsylvania, and parts of Virginia.

2004

Minnesota Office Opens

The Minnesota office was established to serve Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Upholding RAM’s standards of quality and excellence, the office quickly became a key player in the local market.

2008

Rebrand to RAM Construction Services

To reflect the company’s growth and distinct identity, Western Waterproofing was officially rebranded as RAM Construction Services. The new name honored the company’s heritage while embracing its future.

2008

Bridge and Road Specialties Division

The company diversified its services with the creation of the Bridge and Road Specialties Division, addressing infrastructure needs.

2012

Grand Rapids Office Opens

The Grand Rapids office was established to serve northwestern Michigan and parts of Indiana. This strategic expansion allowed RAM to continue meeting the needs of its growing client base.

2018

2018: Celebrating 100 Years 

For our 100th anniversary, we refreshed our brand! Giving our logos a fresh look and decked out our entire fleet in our bold RAM blue. 

2019

RAM University Launched

RAM University was founded to foster professional development, mentorship, and training for employees, reinforcing the company’s commitment to continuous learning and excellence.

Reached 200,000 Projects

We blasted through an incredible milestone – completing 200,000 jobs across our offices!

Toledo Office Opens 

We proudly opened a new office in Toledo to cater to the growing needs and opportunities in the region. This expansion allowed us to strengthen our presence and better serve our clients, meeting the evolving demands of the local market.

Pennsylvania Location Opens

This location serves as a hub for our Bridge and Road Specialties department in the region.
