History

9

Founded in 1918

Robert A. Mazur, a registered architect, husband and father of four, purchased 50% of the Detroit division of a small franchise known as Western Waterproofing.

9

The Next Generation

When Robert passed away in 1977, his wife Evelyn stepped in to lead the family business. In 1980, Bob, Robert & Evelyn’s oldest son, joined the family business full time. Soon after, the remaining 50% was acquired by the family. The company paid homage to Robert in 2008, when Western Waterproofing was officially rebranded as RAM Construction Services.

9

Constantly Evolving

When the Detroit economy took a downturn in the 2000’s, RAM adopted new divisions and planted roots in developing markets to service the needs of our partners.  RAM is now five offices strong in the Midwest, completing work in over 20 states.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RAM a general contractor?
RAM is not a general contractor – we don’t typically manage subs or perform all the tasks that a GC would normally do. We are a specialty contractor, we self-perform about 98% of our own work and act as a subcontractor when working along general contractors!
Is RAM a residential contractor?
No, RAM does not perform residential repairs – commercial buildings and structures only!
Is RAM seasonal?
Great question! Many of our projects only set-up when temperatures are at 40° Fahrenheit and rising, so we use that as a “rule of thumb” for our standard procedures. However, we have definitely performed other work in the dead-winter months. We try to keep our skilled tradesmen (and women) busy by finding interior work for the winter.
Will RAM travel?

Yes, we are six offices strong and here to serve you! Our New Construction, Building Façade Restoration, and Concrete Restoration groups travel across the Midwest and even further South. Our Department of Transportation travels all the time – we worked in 25 states in 2018.

It seems like you only handle large projects – is that true?

Nope! We’re ready and willing to perform repairs anywhere from $800.00 to $8M. Check out the smaller repairs and maintenance projects that we’ve tackled here: Maintenance & Repairs projects. Have you identified a window leak? A handful of broken brick? Would you like an inspection and maintenance plan for your building or parking deck? Give us a call!

Why is RAM always capitalized?
RAM is an acronym for Robert A. Mazur, who purchased the Detroit division of the Western Waterproofing franchise in 1973, before his untimely passing in 1977. His wife, Evelyn, worked extremely hard to keep the business running until their son, Robert T. Mazur, became the president in 1981 (upon graduating from WMU). He made the decision to rebrand the company as RAM Construction Services in 2008 to honor his father.

"I wanted to let you know that your guy did a good job for us. this project has several systemic problems. Vehicles getting stuck, and difficulty accessing the project. Your guy Jason was a real professional and worked with us to get the job done.  He even came in on Saturday during a time crunch. I really appreciate it!"

"During the work we did together at The Mill I had really enjoyed working with Jeff.  He knew the building and the work being completed and was willing to share his knowledge and experience with me.  In my experience working with him, I feel he greatly enhanced the quality of work, professionalism and commitment to restoring The Mill. He is a solid asset for RAM and someone that I look forward to working with in the future."

"I wanted to take a minute let you both know what a pleasure it was working with each of you on the AJC Ramp Area Water Infiltration Repair Project.  However the main reason I am writing is inform you both of the outstanding performance of your lead foreman Brian.  His dedication to our project is to be commended. I hope that RAM is aware of the quality of his character and overall leadership."

"As we get closer to closing out this project I wanted to reach out and thank RAM construction and especially Aaron for all the hard work your team has accomplished. Aaron has gone above and beyond to ensure this project went smoothly and it has shown, We appreciate everything and look forward to working with you again on future projects."

"I would like to take this time and recognize Warren for his work on the Ford Hub project in Dearborn, MI as it relates to the foundation and under slab waterproofing and vapor mitigation systems. Warren has shown an extended dedication an effort to this project and assisted in our efforts to provide the customer with a quality product and installation. This particular project has had numerous challenges as it relates to the project design, manufacturer’s requirements, and stringent project schedule. Warren has shown an extended effort which include but not limited to immediate responsiveness to current work being put in place, issues resulting from inspections, managing and appropriating field crews for work in multiple areas, and assisting in resolving issues with the waterproofing and vapor mitigation systems. We appreciate his positive attitude on a daily basis, and consistent work ethic."

- Nick O., Aristeo
Project: Waterproofing and Vapor Mitigation Installation

"Jason provides astounding leadership, an acute ability to comprehend what needs to be done, and executes in an extremely timely fashion without sacrificing quality or safety. Since he joined our project team he has been very responsive, a go getter, and if we lived in a perfect world I believe the entire masonry restoration scope would have been complete before the first snow fall. He is also not shy about speaking out if there is an issue vs taking the easier route and passing the buck onto the next person or next trade or down the road leaving an issue for GRPS or RC to deal with. He has helped our team with expanding our knowledge on masonry work in general and has provided lessons that our team to take to the next project and beyond."
