Buhl Building Facade Restoration

About this Project

Location: Detroit, Michigan
Project Type: Facade

The restoration project at the Buhl Building was a comprehensive endeavor, involving the replacement and repair of over 12,000 terracotta pieces. Each piece was meticulously hand-stained with limestone and glazed, preserving the building's historic charm. Structural restabilization measures were implemented to reinforce the backup masonry wall, ensuring long-term stability.

Furthermore, over 210 window headers were replaced or installed with fiberglass-reinforced polymer (GFRP) variants, combining durability with architectural authenticity.
