Concrete Repair & Shotcrete Restoration

Structural Integrity Restored with High-Velocity Precision

When concrete infrastructure begins to fail, the clock is ticking against internal corrosion and structural decline. At RAM, we combine traditional repair methods with advanced Shotcrete, or Gunite technology to restore load-bearing capacity.

Shotcrete—concrete projected at high velocity—is the ideal solution for vertical and overhead repairs, providing a dense, low-permeability bond that traditional poured concrete cannot match. Our approach stops active deterioration and reinforces your asset for decades of continued service.

Services

Specialized Concrete Capabilities

Shotcrete (Wet & Dry Mix): Pneumatically applied concrete that consolidates on impact, perfect for bridge abutments, dams, and parking overheads.

Full & Partial Depth Spall Repair: Surgical removal of deterioration or delaminated concrete followed by high-strength mortar or concrete reinstatement.

Rebar Protection & Corrosion Mitigation: Treatment of exposed steel with zinc-rich primers and migrating corrosion inhibitors (MCIs) to halt deterioration.

Structural Underpinning: Strengthening foundational elements that have settled or shifted over time.

Surface Profile & The Science of the Bond Line

In structural concrete repair, the most common cause of failure is “bond loss”—where the new repair material separates from the original host concrete. RAM prevents this by adhering to strict ICRI (International Concrete Repair Institute) standards for surface preparation. We don’t just “patch” a hole; we mechanically profile the substrate to a specific Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) rating. This ensures that when our high-velocity shotcrete or structural mortars are applied, they achieve a mechanical “interlock” with the host concrete. By exposing the “sound” aggregate and neutralizing any “bruised” concrete from the demolition phase, we create a monolithic repair that expands and contracts in unison with the rest of your structure.

Signs Your Structure Needs Concrete Repair

  • Exposed Reinforcing Steel: Visible rusted rebar indicates the concrete has lost its protective alkaline cover and is actively deteriorating.
  • Hollow-Sounding Areas: A deterioration or hollow sound when tapping the surface signifies internal delamination that requires immediate removal.
  • Deep Structural Fractures: Vertical or diagonal cracks that penetrate the full depth of a member, suggesting excessive structural stress.
  • Face Spalling: Large chunks of concrete falling from overhead beams or walls, posing an immediate life-safety hazard.

If you’ve noticed any of these issues, contact a RAM expert for a professional inspection and our recommendation on the best method to restore your concrete infrastructure.
